An exploration in color, fiber, and natural materials.

Our mission

Our mission as collaborative fiber arts studio is to bring joy to others with naturally dyed fiber and yarn, and to foster creativity, community, and connection to the natural world through this work.

Our story

We met in 2004 as colleagues in a health research center and our love of knitting soon made us fast friends. When papers were rejected, or the academic bureaucracy got us down, we would often joke that someday we would retire and open a yarn shop!

Well, fast forward almost 18 years and we aren’t retired (yet) but our love of fiber, color, and creativity have grown. Like many others, the disruption of the pandemic caused us to reflect on what nourishes our souls. We found the process of natural dyeing, which we began exploring together in 2021, is an ideal union of our joint passions for fiber, color, nature, and making things.

We believe that color and creativity are key influencers of our mental and physical health, and that making things with natural materials is one way to ground and connect us to the ecological systems around us in ways that make us both healthy and happy. We hope our naturally dyed yarns color your creative experience with happiness!

Our fibers are hand-dyed (with love) in small batches in our studio in Michelle's backyard. We use natural dyes, several of which come from plants grown in Linda's backyard and our studio garden.
