As a quick, colorful project knit in Color Me Happy naturally dyed superwash merino/cashmere/nylon yarn, this blanket is the perfect baby shower gift for a new parent and allows you to choose colors to match a nursery theme, honor a favorite team, or just create a fun graphic square with colors that make you smile.
The blanket is based on the Multidirectional Dishcloth pattern, and starts from one corner with the first color with increases to make a right triangle. After the first large triangle is completed the second color is added with increases every other row. This second triangle is joined to the long edge of the first triangle while alternating colors every two rows. The final right triangle uses the second color only and decreases every other row while joining. The blanket is finished with a squishy bobble edge for baby to enjoy (a nod to my daughter who loved feeling the edge of her blanket as she went to sleep :-) ).
Although gauge is not important, it is important to have a scale to weigh your yarn so you can judge when to stop the first triangle and still have enough of the first color to finish triangle two.
